iI never knew how much I was missing. Avacados have really become a staple during the week. I made a pudding, that I honestly wasn't fond of. I've added them to smoothies and salads. But mostly I just eat them plain. The benefits of all the good fats
It's been a summer of heat. I know, I post alot about infused water, but I really just get so tired of regular water. This actually encourages me to buy fruit too. So if I have it on hand, I will eat it. If I don't I wont. This summer has been really hot and dehydration can be very dangerous. So what does every newscaster say DRINK YOU WATER. Water, water, water. I took the boredom out of my water today and made a big pitcher with strawberries, cucumbers and lemon slices.

My infused water has lemon, lime and cucumber and a drop of Young Living Peppermint oil. (Oh gosh don't do two drops its potent!) My friend Carol has cucumber, mint leaves and berries. (Maybe she will comment what they were, I forgot.) And thanks to my daughter Cassandra. I use my infused glass bottle from Oakland University (Michigan) All the time. Gave one to Carol because Sharing is Caring Cucumbers are a great summertime snack or side dish. Lucky for me they grow like wild fire in the garden. I always have too many cucumbers. I like to soak them in rice vinegar and a little sugar. There is no recipe. I'm a dumper. Little bit of this, little bit of that. Rice vinegar organic sugar cucumbers thinly sliced water Store covered overnight in fridge. Sure you can add onions, green peppers, red pepper flakes and so on. This is just what I do. Did you know: Cucumbers are 90% water which makes them super hydrating and also nutrient dense. You can eat more with out adding a ton of calories. Besides all that water helps flush out toxins. Very good for alkalizing the body. Spent a few minutes in the garden today. It's been so hot and no rain. My rain barrels are empty and I really don't want to use the water hose as I live in Flint, MI (yeah that FLINT, Michigan) The lead water issues are not resolved by a long shot and I can only pour so much bottled water on the garden. That is something that really concerns me all this bottled water, what are we doing with the plastic bottles? I highly doubt most of my city is actually recycling them. Tragically I am sure they are going to the landfills. Back to the garden.... I honestly haven't been keeping up on it much and hoping for the best this year. One thing is my succulents, hostas, blackeyed susans and lily's have been loving the heat. Veggies & Herbs, not so much. Kale is thriving when I can keep the bunnies out. Several of my lavender plants have just given up. I am crossing my fingers they come back next year. So somehow while updating the site I lost the blog. Nice. I guess technology is not my friend. Maybe it was telling me I needed an overhaul and I wasn't listening so POOF now I'm listening :)
