Spent a few minutes in the garden today. It's been so hot and no rain. My rain barrels are empty and I really don't want to use the water hose as I live in Flint, MI (yeah that FLINT, Michigan) The lead water issues are not resolved by a long shot and I can only pour so much bottled water on the garden. That is something that really concerns me all this bottled water, what are we doing with the plastic bottles? I highly doubt most of my city is actually recycling them. Tragically I am sure they are going to the landfills.
Back to the garden.... I honestly haven't been keeping up on it much and hoping for the best this year. One thing is my succulents, hostas, blackeyed susans and lily's have been loving the heat. Veggies & Herbs, not so much. Kale is thriving when I can keep the bunnies out. Several of my lavender plants have just given up. I am crossing my fingers they come back next year.
